Compress images

Shrink photos and screenshots so they fit upload limits on forms, e-mail and websites. See the size before and after; nothing is uploaded.

How it works

Three steps, and your file never leaves this device.

  1. Choose the image.
  2. Pick a quality, and a maximum width if it is a big photo.
  3. Download the smaller copy.

Questions

Good to know

What quality should I use?

75% looks the same as the original on screen for almost every photo. For a form that needs "under 200 KB", also set the width to about 1600 px.

Why did it keep my original?

If the image is already well compressed, a new copy would be bigger, so RiverDIY gives you the original back and says so.

Is RiverDIY really free?

Yes. Every tool is free for one file at a time (five for merging and images to PDF), up to 50 MB a file. RiverDIY Pro (US$19, paid once) adds whole batches, big files and ZIP downloads.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After your first visit, the tools are kept in your browser; on a phone you can add RiverDIY to the home screen.
